| New oil price cut takes effect today |

EFFECTIVE today, the prices of oil products will again be reduced as prices of refined petroleum in the world market continue to go down. Oil giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. said it will rollback prices of its Fuel Save and V-Power gasoline by P1.80 per liter; diesel and kerosene by P1 per liter and regular gasoline by P1.40 per liter starting 12:01 a.m. today. Meanwhile, independent oil players Eastern Petroleum and Phoenix Petroleum Philippines will decrease the prices of gasoline by P1.80 per liter and diesel by P1 per liter effective 6 a.m. of June 26, 2012. This will be the 12th round of price rollback in several weeks. Other oil companies have yet to follow the price adjustment. The oil companies said the price cuts reflected movements in the international oil market. Earlier, the Department of Energy said that it expected prices of gasoline to go down by as much as P2 per liter and P1 per liter on diesel products. The DOE attributed the expected decline in oil prices to the slowing demand in the international market, particularly in the United States and Europe. |
